Commander’s Palace Re-Opens

4 October 2006

After a long wait post-Katrina, locals and visitors to the city have been rewarded with the reopening of this historic restaurant on Sunday October 1, 2006. The restaurant had significant damage from the loss of their roof; the entire facility had to be remodeled.

The good news is that they are open with everthing in top condition and with a new state of the art kitchen. We have already sent several of our guests there to check it out and the reports have been of excellent food and service, perhaps surpassing pre-Katrina if that’s possible.

Yes, Commander’s is a well known tourist destination, but don’t sell it short. It has received critical acclaim as one of the top restaurants in the country. The locals couldn’t wait to get back to their old haunt…you should check it out… Stay at the Avenue Inn B&B and we can assist with making reservations at all the best places in the Crescent City including Commander’s Palace.
