Still great rooms and parade watching opportunities for Mardi Gras

13 January 2008

According to Innkeeper Joe Rabhan at the Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans, there are still a few rooms available for both weekends of Mardi Gras. The first weekend, or the “Baby” weekend is Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 25,26 & 27 2008. Following that weekend, Parading begins again on Wednesday January 30 and continues through the weekend until Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras February 5, 2008. The entire parade schedule can be found here

The Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast is located on the Uptown parade route, so guests have the “best location in the house” while staying at the Inn. Of course, no one stays in the house for the parades, Mardi Gras parading is an interactive experience. You will walk out to the street, find a good spot and wait for the hundreds of beautifully decorated floats to pass by. Costumed riders will throw beads and trinkets and your job is to catch as many as you can. The phrase “throw me something, Mr.” will be the most used saying of the day.

Call now for more information and to book a room. There are some restrictions and a limited number of rooms remaining. Happy Carnival to All!
